OK, so you know the drill! We say bring your running shoes….then most of you don’t show up! You have to know by now that if you don’t make the run today, you will do it tomorrow!!!!
So, Today’s WOD:
For those that have been with CFWG less than 6 months: 5k Run
For those that have been with CFWG more than 6 months: 5M Run
There were some AMAZING TIMES posted today!!!! Everyone that showed up was surprised by their great times! CrossFit does work!
I have always wanted to run 5 miles, and yesterday i had my chance, one of my personal goals was while running the 5 miles not to stop or slow down at all. i know if i were to do this before crossfit i wouldnt have finished i wouldve quit but now i see the difference crossfit makes. my time was 39:40
Surprised is right! I’m slow…
Though I am sometimes intimidated by lengthy runs, I actually loved this one because it was longer. Besides having to stop @ 3 lights & having to check the route a few times(thank god for the map), I got my runner’s high by mile 3 & achieved my personal best of 42:23! CF has not only increased my strength but also my stamina! Can’t wait til the next run!!
first time in my life running 5 miles. I hate running, I’d rather do 100 burpees or 150 wallballs. But this is one of the great things about Crossfit; you are given a challenge and its up to you to decide if you want to tackle that challenge. I would never tell myself, “hey, you need to work on your endurance, go run 5 miles!”. I’m vacationing in Red River, New Mexico and we are at 9000 ft, so it was an added challenge.
I ran about 1/8 of a mile and it felt like my lungs and heart was going to explode. I stopped and walked and debated about turning around; there were plenty of excuses (i’m on vacation, the altitude, stayed up late last night, etc), but Crossfit helped me push on.
So I walked and ran the next 5 miles through rolling hills, dirt and gravel paths, and awesome scenery. The last mile I got a second wind (despite being alonge with my thoughts since my iphone ran out of juice) and was able to run the whole way back.
41 minutes at the 5k mark. 70 minutes total; not great, but I finished.
