Finally, below is CrossFit’s ”Fitness in 100 Words”: "Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and NO sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.
Practice and train major lifts: deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstands, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. ROUTINE IS THE ENEMY. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports!" Courtesy of CrossFit, Inc.
CrossFit is for everyone! Each workout is scalable, meaning you can lighten the prescribed (RX’d) weight, substitute exercises, or modify the WOD in some other way.
Workout of the Day. This is the workout pre-designed by CrossFit Willow Glen coaches that everyone completes that day. WODs span many domains, including gymnastics, body-weight exercises, plyometrics, Olympic Weightlifting, power lifting, and running. WODs are usually timed or scored so as to gauge an athlete’s overall fitness development.

Each CrossFit class is structured to have a specified warmup and athletes will complete some combination that may or may not include Weightlifting, Gymnastics skills and cardiovascular movements
Warmup: usually composed of stretching and cardio; designed to warm your body up in preparation for the day’s workout. Each warmup helps get you ready for the specific movements in that day’s strength/skill-based work and WOD.
Strength/Gymnastics: focused work on specific movements to help improve technique and strength.
WOD: combination of movements spanning many domains; workouts (also known as metcons (for metabolic conditioning) are typically 5-20 minutes and elevate your heart rate for a sustained period of time while completing the assigned reps.
CrossFit is more than a workout regime – it’s a lifestyle change, and anyone can do it. It is a fitness program that combines constantly varied functional movements into a timed or scored WOD that is performed at high intensity.
We do pull-ups, squats, push-ups, weightlifting, gymnastics, running, rowing, and a host of other movements. Always varied, always changing, always producing results. Police officers, firefighters, soccer moms, Navy SEALS, and grandmas all do CrossFit. In fact, hundreds of thousands worldwide have followed our workouts and distinguished themselves in combat, the streets, the ring, stadiums, gyms, and homes.
